HOW TO PLAY NOTE GUESS
How to play the Guess the Song Game
NoteGuess is a free browser music quiz built around one simple task: hear a short melody and identify the song. Every daily challenge has five rounds, four answer choices, and a result you can share when you are finished.
Start with today's five-round quiz
Open the daily game on a phone or desktop. The first melody starts automatically after the page is ready. You can replay a clip before answering, so headphones are helpful but not required.
Listen before you answer
Each round shows four possible titles. Listen for the shape of the melody, its rhythm, and the part that feels most familiar. The arrangements are generated in your browser with the Web Audio API, so the game does not stream a commercial recording.
Use hints strategically
You get two hints for the full five-round session. A hint reveals the melody's genre and its first letter. A correct answer is worth 100 points with no hint, 80 points after one hint, and 60 points after two hints. An incorrect answer earns 0 points, making the maximum score 500.
Finish and share your score
After you choose an answer, the next round opens automatically. When the fifth round is complete, a result dialog shows your final score and gives you options to share on X, Facebook, or by copying a spoiler-free result. Your daily streak is kept locally in your browser.
Four practical guessing tips
- Focus on the rhythm first; tempo often identifies a melody before the notes do.
- Replay the clip and compare the opening phrase with each title.
- Save hints for a round where two answers sound equally plausible.
- Do not rush the choice. The game rewards a correct answer, not a fast click.
